Stakeholders Engagement Forum

Township of Langley

2019

On July 5, 2018, the Township of Langley hosted an all-day Stakeholder Engagement Forum to begin shaping a future economic development strategy. Our business community as well as residents were invited to engage in exploratory discussions with a on key trends, needs and possibilities.

The Forum consisted of 3 concurrent components:
• Keynote speaker series (in plenary) to give context and spark discussions
• Ideation discussion sessions (in small groups) to share and generate a range of ideas
• Display booths to feature current initiatives of local business organizations as well as the Township

Honorable Bruce Ralston, BC’s Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology opened the forum with Mayor Jack Froese, followed by numerous thought leaders from the BC Chamber of Commerce; Destination BC, Fraser Health Authority, and TransLink. A panel featuring local MPs and MLAs provided insight into the future of the local economy.

Registered participants received an informational economic profile booklet in advance of the forum. The booklet provided an overview of the Township’s economic climate, context for the event’s components, and insight into key business sector’s capacity and diversity.
