The Downtown Langley Business Association’s Start It Up Langley contest invited entrepreneurs across BC to apply for a chance to win a prize package worth $135,000 to help them launch the retail business of their dreams in Downtown Langley. Entrants were asked to submit a 3-minute video explaining their business idea and why they would make a great new member of the business community; they were also required to provide their initial business plan.
A judging panel (comprising members of the Downtown Langley business community) is currently narrowing the entries to five finalists. The public will then vote on the winner, who will receive a prize package from local sponsors that includes: 6 months free rent in Downtown Langley, interior contracting, exterior signage, business banking account with $500, promotional car wrap, business coaching, branding & marketing, website development, print & digital advertising, security system, city fees, legal fees, accounting fees, a grand opening reception, and more!
The contest, which kicked off in February and runs until July, has been promoted through an online landing page, social media campaign, press releases, and outreach to BC business schools.
